S has 23 HCP and a good 5 card ♠ suit. S opens 2♣ and N bids 2♦ (waiting). S bids 2♠ showing the suit. N bids 3♦ (not what S wants
to hear). S shows the 4 card
♥ suit by bidding 3♥. N
goes right to 4♠,
as a sign off. If N had a
better hand and wanted to show spade support N would bid THREE
spades. The 4♠ bid is a sign off. N/S have
agreed that a 2♣
opening bid is forcing to game. Fast arrival at the game shows NO
SLAM INTEREST. Even with the
23 pts S will have a difficult time making 4♠. I
hate this game!
